Grief and Loss Therapist in Austin, TX

About Rebecca Ramming, LPC

Howdy! I’m Rebecca — a local Austin mental health therapist, lifelong animal lover, and proud native of this city I call home. When I’m not in session, you can usually find me walking my dogs, checking out a new restaurant, spending time with friends and family, or winding down with a good book or Netflix show. I love being outdoors (especially near water!) and traveling whenever I can to experience new places, cultures, and foods.

I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from St. Edward’s University (a CACREP-accredited program) and my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Texas State University. During my graduate training, I worked at Hospice Austin supporting individuals and families coping with grief, trauma, and major life transitions. I also provided individual therapy, play therapy, and telehealth therapy at the St. Edward’s Community Counseling Clinic.

I’m a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP) with additional training in telehealth and End-of-Life Doula work. Today, I run my own private practice, Holistic Healing Psychotherapy, PLLC, and partner with the Flatwater to provide free counseling for those affected by cancer.

At my core, I’m a compassionate and curious listener who believes therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and human. My work focuses on grief and loss, life transitions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and finding meaning through life’s challenges. I work with older teens, adults, couples, and families.

I also offer a free 30-minute phone consultation so you can get a feel for my style and see if we’re a good fit, because finding the right therapist is what truly matters.

“Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation”

My approach to therapy is grounded in a humanistic, person-centered perspective — which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to meet you where you are, help you uncover what matters most to you, and support you in moving toward the life you want to create.

I also draw from existential therapy, which explores the deeper questions we all face as humans — like purpose, freedom, responsibility, and our relationship with loss. This approach can be especially meaningful in grief and loss work, but it also applies to many areas of life such as identity, change, and self-discovery.

While this is the foundation of my work, I often integrate other evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based techniques to tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals.

I’m proud to be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, and I’m committed to ongoing learning around diversity and multicultural counseling so that my practice remains inclusive, informed, and compassionate.
